Christ is truth.

Christ gave us the command: Love the Lord with all your heart, your entire mind and, all your soul. What is True in the heart, must be true in the mind, and true in the soul.

John’s Gospel is of said to be the one that proclaims and proves Christ’s divinity. John uses the word for true 13 times in his Gospel, more than the other 3 Gospels combined.

So John proves that Christ is God, and thus Christ being the Alpha… The truth is derived through Christ, and He is our example of how to live.

Time Time Time... See what has become of me?

OK... This is crazy...Time that is. We were talking about it some today in DC. And I was in a real box on this one. So I asked the class for help.

The conclusion I came to is that all of time to God exists all at one time. (Hard to comprehend in our finite mind.)

Eternity=forever...
Not Eternity = Salvation
Salvation = Heaven

But we are not promised eternity either way until we chose Christ or don't chose Christ.

What I am saying is that we think that eternity of our Soul is the goal...When it is actually salvation of our soul...

Once we chose to Follow Christ or not, that is when we chose if the eternity will be with him, or in hell.

Eternal Salvation...

My point being, we do not put enough emphasis on the ETERNAL part.. That once that choice is made, when you die there is no turning back... No second chance. So with everything going on in the word, if this really is the end of time as we know it. How comforting is it to know that we still have eternity to live if we live as Christ.

Act 1: 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

The ultimate Win-Win is to chose Christ.

Here is my new perspective on time...

Stand in any spot, and think about all the stuff that has happened in that spot since the beginning of time, and all of the stuff happening in that spot now, and all the stuff to happen. Now picture it all happing at the same time in that spot. Past Present and Future all happening at the same time.

I am not saying that is 100% the answer, but put it in perspective. If God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden. Then that means he walks with us now. That the bite of the apple, was the point in time God removed his physical presence from our time, but because of time existing in all forms now, he still walks with us.

In the existence of life, we bump into him everyday... Do we ignore him, and bite the apple and separate ourselves from him, or do we take his hand and let him lead us?

I am back...

I haven't posted in awhile, and God obviously had a reason.

I love to write. I love putting words on paper and building a story, or relaying a message. Plus I have always wanted to try writing a book, but never got over the hump of just doing it.

Well for the past 4-5 months the words in my brain dried up. I just couldn't put fingers to keyboard so to speak and get coherent thoughts out. It was frustrating.

God was pushing me. He was forcing me (and this is a whole other post for a later time) to communicate in a different way in an area of my life, that I had been neglecting.

And...

He was setting me up for were I am going now with my writing. Although far from being 100% committed to the project, God has opened doors for me to begin exploring the possibilities of writing a book.

The cool thing is, and I love God for this, he shut down my favorite way to communicate, because he knew the importance of me taking care of the other area of my life (My Marriage) first. As God has pushed me along to fix that, and things have improved, the words are flowing again, and I may get to live out one of my Dreams.

This 4-5 month trial in my life has added to the evidence of my Faith in Christ.

The evidence of how my life has changed since allowing Christ to fill my heart with his Spirit, and the lives of others proves to me there is a God.

Absolute Faith and reliance on something unseen, and seeing results can prove a lot of things to a person that has Faith.

I know it is not easy for people to understand, heck sometimes I don't understand how God can love me without condition. He just does. But as I said the evidence of Faith is the change in my life. I would not have that evidence if I did not believe in my Christ, he is the one that changed me.

So have you ever wondered what God was thinking when he sent his Son into this world? Why in his world would God send his Son into the world full of sin? From the first sin of Man to the sin of Israel that lead to it’s destruction at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, even the sin in the world today. What was God’s plan with a Baby Boy that came into this world in the most unassuming way?

You see God is a jealous God, and his jealously makes him want to rise up in anger against that which separates us from him. That is sin. Our sinful nature is what provokes this jealous anger.

If you read through the Old Testament God’s jealously rises up against the sins of Israel to the point that he wants to beat the sin out of the world. Now think about that. He was so jealous of the sin in the world he destroyed it by flood, Sodom and Gomorra destroyed, Israel conquered by Babylon, all because they refused to listen to the prophets, and heed God’s warning.

What was a Jealous God to do to restore the relationship with the Man he created? Well he sent a little Baby, His Son to save us. II Cor 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. To be sin… That is a powerful statement. What was God thinking? He wanted to rise up and destroy sin, to beat it out of this world. So why would he make his Son be that sin for us?

See, the baby that came into this world in an unassuming way, was beaten and crucified so that the sin that was laid upon him would be destroyed. God used the life and death of this baby to restore the relationship with his people by rising up with out stretched arms on a cross.

This Christmas as we celebrate the Joy that is Christ’s birth, let us not for get the ultimate sacrifice he made for us to restore our relationship with his Father.

The past few weeks we have been studying Cults and World Religions. Each one of us has had to do a couple reports on a Cult and religion. Here is my first on not so much a cult, but a no biblical movement with in the Christian church.

Word of Faith

The Word of Faith (WF) movement emerged within Charismatic/Pentecostal Christianity in the latter 20th century.

Parkhurst Quimby (1802-1866) who laid the foundations.
- Quimby's metaphysical teachings that influenced E.W. Kenyon,
- E.W. Kenyon's teachings that in turn influenced Kenneth Hagin.
- Most prominent Word of Faith teachers today draw their inspiration from Kenneth Hagin.
- many Word-Faith preachers broadcast their services and campaigns,
- Paul and Jan Crouch own TBN.
o with an estimated net worth of approximately $600 million dollars
o Televising the Faith message (as well as many other errant messages) all over the world.

Word of Faith teachers are notorious for teaching everything from the heretical to the downright ridiculous. For example, one WF teacher (who recently renounced WF) once stated that Adam could fly, and women were originally designed to give birth from their sides. Many sincere Christians within the WF movement are unaware that their favorite teachers are teaching doctrines that flatly contradict the Word of God. One reason for this lack of discernment is that followers are told that questioning the teacher is synonymous with "touching God's anointed," or "quenching the Spirit." They are unaware that Scripture encourages us to test all teaching by the written Word of God.

The Word of Faith movement is a serious threat to the Church -- this because WF is assaulting Christianity from within the Church.

o Benny Hinn declares, "God came from heaven, became a man, made man into little gods, went back to heaven as a man" (Christianity in Crisis, p. 382 n. 43). Earl Paulk wrote, "Until we comprehend that we are little gods and we begin to act like little gods, we cannot manifest the kingdom of God" (Satan Unmasked, p. 97).

- three days serving a sentence in hell (where He was tortured by demons),
- then born again and released from hell on a technicality

The "force" of faith

Hagen in his book How to Write Your Own Ticket with God
In the opening chapter, titled "Jesus Appears to Me," Hagin claims that while he "was in the Spirit" -- just like the apostle John on the Isle of Patmos -- a white cloud enveloped him and he began to speak in tongues. "Then the Lord Jesus Himself appeared to me," says Hagin. "He stood within three feet of me." After what sounded like a casual conversation about such things as finances, ministry, and even current affairs, Jesus told Hagin to get a pencil and a piece of paper. He then instructed him to "Write down: 1,2,3,4." Jesus then allegedly told Hagin "if anybody, anywhere, will take these four steps or put these four principles into operation, he will always receive whatever he wants from Me or from God the Father." That includes whatever you want financially. The formula is simply: "Say it, Do it, Receive it, and Tell it."
Step number one is "Say it." "Positive or negative, it is up to the individual. According to what the individual says, that shall he receive."
Step number two is "Do it." "Your action defeats you or puts you over. According to your action, you receive or you are kept from receiving."
Step number three is "Receive it." We are to plug into the "powerhouse of heaven." "Faith is the plug, praise God! Just plug in."
Step number four is "Tell it so others may believe." This final step might be considered the Faith movement's outreach program.
Frederick K.C. Price: "Now this is a shocker! But God has to be given permission to work in this earth realm on behalf of man. … Yes! You are in control! So if man has control, who no longer has it? God. ... When God gave Adam dominion, that meant God no longer had dominion. So, God cannot do anything on this earth unless we let Him or give Him permission through prayer" (Prayer: Do You Know What Prayer Is. ... and How to Pray? The Word Study Bible, p. 1178)
Prosperity and Health Gospels
- God will make you wealthy if you ask.
o Robert Tilton, On a Trinity Broadcasting Network program in 1990 he said: "Being poor is a sin, when God promises prosperity. New house? New car? That's chicken feed. That's nothing compared to what God wants to do for you"
o Usually leads to asking for an offering… Give $10 get $1000, give $1000 get 100,000 …
- God not only heals our sin but heals our bodies
o Promised a life of health
o People get sick cause of lack of faith
o Sickness in the leaders lives is an attack from Satan.

Answer to a question.

A follow up to a question from my Facebook...

The same Hebrew word for Divorce is used for the word separate. In Romans we can see that nothing will separate us from the love of Christ. It should be just as impossible for a marriage built on Christ's foundation to separate.

Mt 19:6 "Consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."

In Mathew 5, Christ put out one exception to his command on divorce and that is adultery.

The word adultery (or Marital unfaithfulness, as Christ puts it) means the breaking or separating of a physical bond. If we are to give ourselves to our spouses in heart, mind and soul, how that physical breaking takes place can take many forms.

If our Marriage is built on Christ then we will avoid that exception whatever the form.

Elohim... The Trinity

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The father was there, so was the Word and the Spirit (Breath) of God.

1:2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

This implies that we are to be in the image of God the Father the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God our authority who judges our actions, gave us Jesus. Our example of what our actions should, who left us his Spirit our guide. So we can live under the authority, by transforming us into the example.

Divorce

1 Cor 7:10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.

Mathew 5
31 "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.' 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Ro 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Now it is obvious if Marriage is built on Christ's foundation, we will avoid the prevision Christ set our for divorce.

Freedom in Christ and the trap Legalism

It is for freedom that Christ set you free. Stand firm, then, do not let yourself be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. You my brothers are called to be free, do not use that freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather serve on another in love.

We are free to worship Christ and be in commune with him however we want, as long as we do not abuse the freedom and sin. Grace God’s forgiving grace is not a freedom to Sin. However we are no longer bound buy rules.

Following rules should not take the place of our personal relation ship with Christ, because doing so could distract us from our relationship with him.

Gal 3: 10- 11
10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."[a] 11 Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith."[b]

The Law points us to our sin but because we are justified in Christ we are free from the consequences of our sin. Our faith will lead us to righteousness, not following a set of rules (Legalism). Our change to righteousness can not be done by our own action; we have to rely on our faith in Christ.

Col 2:20-23
20 Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: 21 "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? 22 These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence

Legalism Got eve in trouble when she added to God’s command:

God Said, Gen 2: 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Eve Said: Gen 3: 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "

God never said touch, and by adding this Eve took the focus off what God’s command and added to his word, and this lead her down the wrong path.

I find it interesting that

Satan Said:
Gen 3: 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Even Satan knew God’s command, and that it was eating that God commanded against.

It is hard to believe that a year ago, I was just starting down this road. God has been good to me, and opened my heart in many ways. The break has been good but I am anxious to get going again. Most of all to put Ezekiel behind me. Yikes what a book. I think it could take years of study to fully understand every aspect of that book. But again it proves God's jealousy towards anything that separates us from him, and his wanting to destroy what separates us from him.

So...

401 Starts tomorrow. I should be posting more, as the homework will pick up. I will be able to draw more from that.

I pray God continues to bless this group of men, and opens our hearts and minds to his word.

I have not typed about my nephew Justin on this blog. He was in a bad car accident the Sunday before Memorial day, and sustained a serious closed head brain injury.

After 4-5 weeks in Intensive care, and 6 weeks at Frazier rehab he has made it home.

One of the things he expressed that he wanted to do was to start studying the bible. My mother in law, mentioned it to my wife. I prayed about it and offered to help.

Well now Tuesday nights I will meet with Justin for 1 hour. 20-30 Minutes will be spent working with his Nintendo DS with Brain Age, and 20-30 minutes reading the bible and talking about it.

This paragraph from my testimony will frame what we talk about.

God allows and knows I will fail, but he sacrificed His Son for all of us, so that we can get back up looking for Him to help us. He also gives us the power of the Spirit to enable us to succeed in overcoming our sin nature. When we succeed He celebrates with us, and is proud of us. I am now privileged to have a relationship that allows me to walk in the Light of the Word, confident in the salvation of Jesus Christ.

I also asked him, what is the one question that I can pray about for him, and ask God to help him answer. His answer, "When will I be normal?" I know God heard the question, and I pray that as Justin and I through our study start to unravel that question for him.

God I pray that you give me the guidance to help Justin. The wisdom to teach him about you and how much you love him. Help me through my experiences show him how to build a relationship that relies completely on you. Help me be a workman that correctly handles your word of truth.

Ezekiel...

During the break from class, we have been tasked to reading Ezekiel. I must say that it is confusing, especially at 5:15 am....

From what I can gather though, God is pouring his heart out to Ezekiel, trying to convey to the Israelites what He is feeling, and how their destructive living is ruining their chance at a better life and relationship with Him.

God promises his judgment and wrath, and shows again his jealous anger. Then in 18:30 we read this:

30 "Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. 31 Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!

Oh how God wants us to live a righteous life, with Him as our guide.

I have also come to understand this about my faith... Which seems to be a reaccuring theme as I read and blog...

I want my God to be El Qanna... To be so Jealous of my sin that He wants to root it out of every corner of my being and destroy it. I want Him to pursue me in such a way that He will do anything, even take out His vengeance on his own Son, to have a relationship with me. COR 5:21 God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we may be come the righteousness of God. I want to know that God laid down his Son for our forgiveness because He loves me so much he can not stand to have any sin in the way of a relationship with Him.

I like knowing that God will pursue that loving perfect relationship with me, and will do so in a way that points out flaws in my life I never knew I had. Then I want to turn to him and have him help me fix those flaws.

Ezekiel 5 Then he said to me, "Son of man, look toward the north." So I looked, and in the entrance north of the gate of the altar I saw this idol of jealousy.

The idol jealousy here is not the jealousy of man, it is the idol that provokes God to jealousy. That makes him want to rise up and stamp out the evil caused by worshiping idols. There are so many things we set up as idols in our life that causes God to be jealous. Each one separates and takes us further from the relationship we are meant to have with the one true Lord God.

We even see this concept of coveting in a young child: They are happy with their toy UNTIL they see another kids toy!
When we are not happy with what we have, we begin to desire what we do not have, and look for ways to satisfy the desire our selves.

Colossians 3:5 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. ---> GREED BECOMES IDOLATRY:

Our heart was created to be satisfied by God! Coveting allows things to take the place of God in our hearts!
God says "seek ye first the kingdom" =

GREED seeks the "kingdom of things"

4 – We can lead people to covet

We should also be careful to not lead people down the road of coveting by our own actions.

5 – The opposite of covet is to be content and love.

The opposite of coveting and the fix is contentment, to understand that what God provides to us is what he thinks we can handle and work with. The value of what we posses through God is no greater or less then anything any one else has. In 1 Timothy we learn…

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

(2) Do not give false witness…6 So David sent this word to Joab: "Send me Uriah the Hittite." And Joab sent him to David. 7 When Uriah came to him, David asked him how Joab was, how the soldiers were and how the war was going. 8 Then David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house and wash your feet." The 10th commandment forbids all wrong desire of having what will gratify ourselves or lead to selfish behavior. Anything that will lead us away from God’s provision. I find it interesting that God in the first commandment establishes his provision as the one and only God, in the 10th he gives us the understanding of what leads us away from his provision.

Not all desire is bad. Desire causes: capitalism, work, eat, drink, social etiquette. Desire to be with your friends, family, and wife. Desire causes us to work hard and dream.

1 Corinthians 9:10

10Surely he says this for us, doesn't he? Yes, this was written for us, because when the plowman plows and the thresher threshes, they ought to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest.

It is the desire that leads us outside of God’s provision that is wrong.

Jesus said to his followers, to go teach and preach to all nations, so that they may hear the good news, and come to know of Gods saving grace. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Christ said it is better to never hear the Good news, than it is to hear and not believe.

He also commanded believers to go and preach to every nation the Good news.

The price to commune with God is not prayer..

The price was hung on a Cross for us, so that we can live and commune with God forever. Prayer is the constant conversation and interaction we have with God.

We can not demand things from God. His will is what will be done, and it is that aspect of Faith in Him that is hard for people with out faith in Him to believe.

Prayer should be
Recognition... Our Father
Worship.. Holy is your name.
Understanding who is in control... Thy will be done, on earth and in heaven.
One of his providing our basic needs ... Give us our dally bread.
One of guidance.... Lead us not unto temptation,
Salvation... Deliver us from evil.
Adoration. For thine is the kingdom the power and the glory forever.

Use what ever words you want. Beyond how Jesus taught to pray we become demanding of God, and who are we to challenge and demand of him?

It is ok to pray for provision of Rain within God's will, or Financial needs within God's will... God will answer prayer, we just have to be prepared for the answer, because sometime his silence on the matter is an answer.

Demanding of God and not trusting his will, will leave a person disappointed...

God wants people to trust him, to know that he is in control. Sometimes we have to accept a NO from him, and move on, or see the other avenues he may be opening to you.

EXAMPLE: I have been praying for discernment about entering the ministry, basically asking God if it is in his will put the path in front of me if I am to go to Bible College. Now this is something I really want to do. God is not putting the answer in front of me as I would have hoped. He is however opening up other avenues for me to share my Faith and hope of salvation. If I had just closed myself up to his will, and keep on down the path on my own to Bible College, I may not have seen these other avenues open up. Avenues after further examination are just as appealing to meet my desire.

My selfish prayer to fulfill a desire to follow my own path will never be answered by God.

Prayer is effective as long as we are praying for things to be done with-in Gods will, prayer is ineffective if we pray demanding our selfish desires will be fulfilled.

Essence of prayer is a communication with God. This should be a constant thing, so a person knows if they are making the correct decisions, or looking for discernment on a decision. God's will or not he still gives us the freedom to make decisions on our own.

Heb 13:18 Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things.

2Th 1:11 To this end also we pray for you always that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power;

Pray without ceasing!

So I have got to thinking about this blog, and wonder how many people read it regularly. I personally know of 3 people, other than my wife that read the blog.

I have an Idea to propose for this blog, and want to know if people who read it would be interested.

On Sunday of every week, I would post a scripture reference and some questions about the scripture that I have or just general questions. The people reading the blog could then comment and answer the questions through out the week and on Thursday/Friday, I could post a follow up, combining answers and comments from everyone.

Just a thought to make this more interactive and a learning experience for everyone, including myself.

OK.... So this is an outline of what has consumed my time the past 2 weeks...

My question today is…Does the first commandment have as much weight for Christians, as it did for the Israelites?

I think to answer that question we have to deal with Who is God?

If you understood God would you be freaked out?
Like Flash are you God or think that you make God?
Or like the engineer is it a fantasy concept?

What is your concept of God?

Today we struggle much like the Israelites did with the question, Who is God?
Are we much different than the people coming out of Egypt, doubting God’s power to provide?
Who is this God that protects us loves us, and wants nothing more that to commune with us?

What are some ways that God daily declares who he is to you?

Look at what life was like in Egypt and Today…

Multiple God’s…. Today Multiple distractions.

Riches beyond imagine…. Today you name it you can buy it.

Even as slaves they did not want for anything… Living in poverty in America you live better than half the population of the world.

Why on earth would they want 1 God, when multiple was better? Why on earth do we today need a God as provider and to worship?

The people didn’t look to God as who rescued them, they saw Moses as there deliverer, and we do not look to God for help with our problems we look to Dr Phil or Oprah.

So we are talking about the Israelites today.

Sitting in this stadium are 100,000 people, according to a Harris poll 7,000 of them do not believe in God. One of the more intriguing findings is that not all people who call themselves Christians believe all the conventional Christian beliefs. For example, one percent of Christians do not believe in God, 8% do not believe in the survival of the soul after death, 7% do not believe in miracles, 5% do not believe in heaven, 7% do not believe in the Virgin birth and 18% do not believe in hell.

Now do the math for Israel. I think there is a chance that some of them did not know who God was. They were looking at Moses as being who freed them from Egypt not God. There were an estimated 600,000 men coming out of Egypt that is a lot of people who did not believe in God. For God 1 was too many.

It is no wonder God says….

Can these people not see what I have done for them. Led them out of Egypt, Sacrificed my Son. God has true and perfect emotion, and his aggravation with Israel and us must be at least an 8 out of 10 at this point.

So God, who created the world, us, everything in it, and watches over it; has to establish who he and what he wants from us in the first commandment first.

Coming out of Egypt, in the mixed up words.

A call to a Monotheism, many gods…to the One God.

God was not just to be the first among many, or put aside while we run off to fulfill a pleasure, he was and is to be the only God, and first in our thoughts.

Jesus taught in Mathew 4 as he echoed the first commandment, 4: 10 Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.

When God commands no other Gods he, wants to establish a relationship with his people. He wants them and us to trust in his provision. For so long he provided for them, and rescued them. Now he wanted to open himself to a relationship with his people. The only way for this relationship to develop was for Israel to forget what they knew of their life in Egypt, forget the many gods they worshiped and turn their eyes to the one true God. This required perfect love, reverence, obedience and worship.

Much the same way when we are born again into Christ we are to turn away from the ways of this world… Romans 2: 2 do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world.

But often we do not do this..

The problem …we hide from God we want to separate ourselves from God. Or as R.C. Sproul puts it we try to cover up who God is. We want to stay in the ways of Egypt and minimize who God is in our lives. In the 1st commandment God demands we put nothing in front of worshiping him.

And Paul says in Eph 4: 4-6, 4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Had my birthday yesterday.... Turning 36...

Been an interesting year, and allot has happened over the past year.

So points of interest.

1. See my previous post for the big addition to the Family
2. I have become much more comfortable in my own skin. With God's help I no longer have to mask my emotions and can just be genuine about how I am feeling.
3. I have gained a much better understanding of the path God is leading me on. I have a feeling I will pursue some sort of way to teach. May be the ministry, may just be bible studies at church or elsewhere.
4. The relationship I have with Christ today continues to strengthen everyday. Just like any relationship it takes work and communication.
5. We live in a messed up world that we were not meant to live in. We were meant to live in perfection. God's grace gives us the hope of salvation.
6. I have come to understand that people that live outside the bounds of a righteous moral God because they don't want to accept something greater than themselves. Sin boils down to selfishness, and trying to have the pleasures God gives us outside the provision of God.
8. Hide the word of God in your heart. You never know when you are going to be in a place where you don't have access to the bible. Then need the comforting words or something to say to someone who is seeking or hurting.
9. God's will is Good, Pleasing and Perfect. Who are we to question or challenge him. Just ask Job....
10. God is God, we are not.. He is I AM.....

If you are wondering why I haven't posted much this is why....
God has blessed my family with another arrow in my quiver. I just pray that God gives me the ability to raise this new little man.

Here is a picture of both the arrows that I have to aim... Sometimes I wonder why I am blessed as I am to be a Dad. I sometimes do not feel qualified at all. The nice thing is I know God my Father will be there to guide me.

I love them both so much, and pray that they see Christ in the way that I raise them...

I love them high, I love them low, I love them deep, I love them wide.. I love them, I love them...So Much...

I interrupt the regularly scheduled blog posting to bring you this special message.

I haven’t used this blog to rant or post about things going on in the world, but 2 articles I read recently got me thinking about the priorities of the Church and the secular world.

Back in march I posted this:

My answer: God created us to love him, and gave us the ability to have faith in him because of the love he shows us. I do not believe it to be an accident, nor did we adapt to need it.

Well, we are also made to love, serve God, and serve others.

Recently there was a thread on a discussion board, about the new Creation museum in Kentucky.

As I read and even posted to these threads, a thought struck me. What in the heck are we doing? Why in the world is anyone spending money on this stuff?

Let me say here I am all for the rights of the people that opened the museum, and spend their money on alien research. What I don’t get is with all the other stuff going on in the world, couldn’t this money be spent better elsewhere.

In the case of the people who are searching for aliens: 12.5 million donated. Dawkins has said (Paraphrased) we are part of the cosmos and all that is the cosmos is in us, and all that is in us is the cosmos. He also said that we may not want to search for Aliens because when we find them we will not be special anymore. I believe selfishness is driving this. I think these people do not want to believe that there is something or someone greater than themselves, that there is more to live for than the pleasures of this world, and that we are a unique creation in this universe. They do not want to have to think that they will ultimately answer for their actions, so they look for every way to discredit the existence of God or a Creator.

As for the people opening the creation museum (and I do agree with the premise of the museum) they do not get off easy ether. I have to ask the question of the people that opened it. Do you think Jesus would worry about the impact of the museum, or would he rather you act and do as he taught? How far would that 26 million go to stop hunger? I do not know the answers to these questions per say, but I do know that my savior is about serving the poor in spirit and saving the lost. I just do not see how this can be done charging almost 20 dollars a ticket to see what can be read in any bible. I just think that some in the Church are loosing site of “They will know we are Christians by our love.”

Now as I understand it most of the money for both projects is from private donations:

Compassion International has people sponsor poor children from around the world for about 30 dollars a month is. 38.5 million /30 dollars a month could sponsor 1.3 million children.

For the people looking for aliens they would have to admit there is something bigger and that we are unique, and made to serve others not our own self interests.

For the people who opened the museum: I can not think of one story in the bible where Jesus healed or served someone after he told them the good news of salvation. Love them first then tell them why you love them. Let Jesus change the heart, then you can show them the bible for free, and then they can develop a relationship with God.

God's power is unlimited, the Bible is a complete revelation of his creation plan and will, but we can not fully comprehend his power.

The path to him is narrow, and the path is open to EVERYONE. It is people who come out against the Narrow road that limit the power of God's sacrifice of his Son, and his willingness to love and forgive EVERYONE because of that sacrifice.

Mathew 7 :13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Faith begins with the begining and comes from inside...

The Holy spirit is physically put into us through the supernatural powers of God. Christ gave of himself with his whole body, as Dr Crabb puts it, "The idea of an eager bridegroom entering His bride to produce His fruit in her..." Think about that image for a second, and you can see that man has so distorted what is meant to be a beautiful embrace between God and Man. Love him, and he will love you in ways you cannot imagine and can not be experienced with human relationships.

For DC class I have been reading Inside Out by Dr Larry Crabb, and the current train of thought is this…

We were created for and to live in perfection. We were meant to walk and talk with God. God meant for us to have not only a perfect relationship with him but also with each other.
Sin has ruined that perfection. It introduced imperfections deep into our being all the way to the building block of life, DNA. We struggle with not having that perfection. We long for the fulfillment of that perfection.
Every pleasure we seek, is us trying to achieve the perfection that we were meant to live in. Every relationship we seek is us trying to find that perfect relationship that God meant for him and us to have.
God’s creation is perfection he knows it, we do not trust him. We will not see that perfection again until we see his face. Then we will find pleasure and relationships that fill every empty spot in our soul from the “Inside Out”

Oh God I pray that the Church wakes up to this soon does your will and seeks perfection through you and only you. Not through the empty pleasures and relationships of the world. God you are the only one who can provide what we were truly made for; YOU!!!!

God knows the secrets of our hearts.

Psalm 44: 20- 21

20 If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, 21 would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?

The other day in DC class I was talking about the light of Christ and I said: Christ’s light is not meant to shine on us, it is meant to shine from with in us. If the Spirit is indwelling in our heart and soul, then we will let that light out. When we let that light out it is when God knows us for who we are, His Child.

Mathew 5: 14-16 14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

If we live as light we do what is pleasing to God, and will expose everything to God.

Eph 5: 8-13 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible,

God wants us to know he did not intend for us to live in this imperfect world. And we groan and long for the salvation of Christ so that we can live with him again as we were suppose to in the Garden of Eden. If we are not careful, if we do not expose our whole heart to God, and if we let our heart be affected by this world, God will not know us for who we. We will be separate form God.

Eph 4:18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

The word “heart” appears in the NIV Bible 743 times. So it would seem to be important to God.

In Genesis 6 it is how he recognizes the wickedness and evil of man…

Gen 6:5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.

This Wickedness and evil has made our hearts disobedient to God…

Eph 2:1-3 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

In Acts he see that God knows the heart, and purifies it by our faith…

Acts 15:8-9 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.

But for God to see our hearts filled with the spirit we have to believe in the word of truth.

Eph 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

Once we choose to receive the spirit we become known and become members of the house of God.

Eph 2: 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household,

But if we remain in our wicked ways, and do not prepare our selves God will not know our hearts, because they are not prepared, and we will be left on the outside.

Mathew 26:10-12 "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. 11 Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!' 12 "But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.'

Do not think like the unprepared virgins, that you can only give part of your life to God, and that be enough for Him to know your heart. Do not say, I will do these things here which are pleasing to God, and leave other things unattended. God knows the heart and only he knows when a believer has fully committed every aspect of his life to Christ.

You must let God see your heart, by shining your light, and then God will know you as one of His own. That light is lit by the Oil and Fire of the Holy Spirit.

To me God has made himself into 3 persona . Father, Son, and Holy Spirit , that together form the GODHEAD. Each persona has a different roll in a persons faith. But they all come from God and are God.

God the Father created all things. His Son came to earth with the full power of his Father to spread the word of his Fathers salvation and be the ultimate sacrifice. The Spirit is the full power of God that was given to the Disciples to heal, and spread the word The Spirit is given to followers today for comfort and help them spread the gospel.

They have all been there from the beginning....In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Then in Genesis we hear about the Breath of God (the Spirit) going out over the waters... And then in John we hear that Christ was there when the earth was created: In the beginning was the word, and the word became flesh.

Can he be Omniscient?... Father yes... Omnipresent?.. Jesus...Yes Omnipotent?... Spirit...Yes

Testimony

I can’t think of a time that I didn’t know who Christ was. I was raised in a Catholic family and went through 12 years of Catholic schools. Although I stopped going to church after high school, if I was asked about my faith I always said I believed in Christ. However, I did not have a relationship with God and did not act like I believed.

Pride consumed me, being the center of attention meant everything, I was selfish, I was not very confident, and often doubted if I would accomplish anything.

That all started to change about 6 years ago with my in-Laws. They were never pushy about their faith, and we always went to Church with them when we would visit Louisville. I often said I would be willing to attend their church if we ever moved to there.

Well, do to layoffs at my work, my employer asked me to move to Louisville. Once we got settled my wife and I started attending church with my in-laws. I loved the worship music and sermons. I even started attending Saturday morning bible studies. My wife and I worked in the nursery, and church became part of our lives. We were baptized shortly after. I was hooked. Or was I? That seems to be the problem; I had still not really let God into my heart.

Then in Oct. 2002 my Dad was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent surgery in May 2003, and almost died on the table. My world went into a tailspin for the next few years.

I never stopped believing in God during this time, but I had failed to let him into my heart. I had numerous failed attempts to read my bible on a regular basis. Worship music that I loved became noise in the background. I was asking every time I remembered to pray, “God just move me, help me, feed me something....” My dad died July 9^th 2004.

So a little over 2 years ago I wrote these words, “You see, God gave us all plenty of time, and it is how we choose to use the time that can make a difference in our lives and the lives of others.”

It was the day after my Dad died. I knew I wanted to speak at his funeral, and that was the first sentence that I typed. As I sat there and thought about my Wise, Unselfish, Caring, Protecting, and Loving Dad, I wrote about how he valued the time he had on this earth, and used his time to be who he was, Dad. I also wrote this that same day, “Thank you Dad for taking the time. Thank you God for giving us a Dad who took the time.”

I was struggling with the thoughts of having lost my Dad, and I was slipping back into an old pattern of self doubt. I didn't think I had what it took to make a difference.

One night last spring God broke through. As I lay in bed, tears in my eyes, my wife trying to comfort me, the words hit me... It is OK.... What? What do you mean ok? It is OK.... What? To sit here and blubber like an idiot? It is OK... What? To lose sleep night after night trying to figure out if I will ever..... Ever what? IT IS OK.... To be mad that you can't turn to your Dad, it is OK to be sad that he won't be there when you walk into the house... It is OK to be happy... Happy what do you mean happy? It is OK to live your life. It is OK to stretch your limits, and be the man God wants you to be.... God was telling me IT IS OK....

I now have a different perspective on time.

Now I can say: Thank you God for giving me the time. God gave me time to heal.

God changed my heart, and this was the start of my personal relationship with God.

I feel a fire burning that fills me, guides me and tells me every morning, IT IS OK, I am with you...

Now how I lead my family and look at other people can only come from having Christ in my heart. I find myself doing things for others that I would have never done before, because I have also taken the focus off me and put it on Christ. What I know now is that Dad, even while dying of cancer was being Jesus to others, because he too had a relationship with Jesus.

Now I spend time with God every morning. As I walk through my house in the darkness of morning the knowledge I have of the house guides me so I don’t stub my toe. As I walk through this world of darkness God's word guides me so I do not fall. Sometimes though, as I walk through this world I will stub my toe.

Isaiah53 2b-12 The easter story told some 700 years before the life of Jesus....

When God says go you go.

Sometimes I find myself asking this questions. You want me to do what? Sometimes Gods instructions don’t make since. Look what he said to Noah.

Genesis 6: 14-18

14 So make yourself an ark of cypress ^[c] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. ^[d] 16 Make a roof for it and finish ^[e] the ark to within 18 inches ^[f] of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

Now you have to understand, Noah lived in the middle of no where, miles from water, and God wanted him to build a boat in his back yard. Now this was not a weekend handy man project. He was not going to the local hardware store and find a kit. The scale of the Ark for that time was staggering, and there not being a lot of world travelers back then, boats/ships of this size were not common on the waters.

Genesis 6: 22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

However, Noah obeys God as he always did. (I often wonder what kind of tools Noah had to invent to make God’s ark? He didn’t have 40 position table saws, jig saws, electric screwdrivers, or a Home Depot close.) So here is Noah in his back yard building something that not may people had seen, much less understood why he was building this boat for miles.

It took Noah 120 years to build the ark. God had to provide a lot for Noah here, but the main thing was trees…. I picture a forest clear cut for miles. Stumps upon stumps upon stumps. What a scene it must have been, when his friends walked by and wondered what he was doing. Those were his friends, but what about the people who did not know God. They must have thought Noah was just plain crazy. However, when God say’s build a boat, Noah took God for his word and built a boat, and for a very good reason.

Genesis 7: 11-12

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

What kind of boat is God asking me to build? Well, first it is to lead and raise a Godly family, centered on the Love of Christ, something that is becoming rarer in these days. Often people look at Godly family’s and try to figure out what they are doing, and wonder why they act or do what they do. When was the last time a TV show depicted a Godly family?

Also, God is calling me more and more to lead. Where he wants me to lead, and who is very much up in his hands; But, I know that me being a God made man is rare, and I hope that my relationship with Christ can shine and lead other men to the Jesus that I know.

We have to dig through the grime and dirt of our life to see Christ. Faith should drive you to do what ever you can to be close to Jesus. So much faith that you will dig through what ever barrier stands in your way to get to him.

The Fall and Sin of Man ruined God's perfect plan...

I look at the effects of all SIN this way...

In the Garden of Eden before the fall there was no Rot or Rust, and God walked daily in the Garden with Adam and Eve. The Garden was God's perfect dwelling place on earth. After the sin we were separated from God, and the rot of sin, and the rot of nature entered the world, once it became about "ME" and "US" and not God.

God by his Grace gives us a way to escape the Rot of sin... but we have to leave ALL things that God calls sin behind…We need to seek that personal relationship with God, it is by God's grace alone that we leave sin behind.

Also it is not up to us as Christians to judge a person’s actions, God’s is the judge of our faith and sin. All we can do is point out in love what sin is, pray that God opens the eyes for the sinner to see their error, do our best to live as an example using Christ as our model, and let God sort us all out in the end.

II Tim 4:21 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Romans 12: 1-2 Therefore I urge you brothers in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God...This is your spritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform anylonger to the paterns of this world, but be trasformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to approve and test what God's will is. His good pleasing and perfect will.

Evolving God?...No..Loving God?... Yes

The not so new fight to remove God from our lives continues, with the evolutionists. This article in the NYTimes tries to lay out an argument that our need to believe in God evolved from a need to believe in the supernatural or something greater than ourselves.

The fundamental question in the article is this:

Which is the better biological explanation for a belief in God — evolutionary adaptation or neurological accident? Is there something about the cognitive functioning of humans that makes us receptive to belief in a supernatural deity?

My answer: God created us to love him, and gave us the ability to have faith in him because of the love he shows us. I do not believe it to be an accident, nor did we adapt to need it.

Yes it is a simple answerer... But Faith as simple as a child is what Christ taught.

Whether proven by science or not, God made this earth based on his own design and plan. We are made to seek him, and build a relationship with him; Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

The more I listen to what is going on in the world the more I realize it is not God’s plan. Evolution is a product of the world view that does not want to give God the credit for this beautiful world we live in, and wants to remove God and therefore morality from our lives. It is the ways of the world that are leading us further and further from the will of God. Paul when writing to the believers of Rome said:

Romans 12: 1-2 1 Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God...This is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the plans of this world, instead be transformed through the renewing of your mind. God wants us to live our lives through him, and what better way to live in this world than through the God who made it and us.....

What do I get from this. When God talks about something being joined or put together he uses, Daw-Bak. The writes of King James used the word cleave which yes has two meanings in our languages. I believe based on the Hebrew looking at NIV and NAS, united or joined seems to be a better fit.

But I appreciate cleave (KJV) being used in this since though. It is a more dramatic word, and brings to mind a picture of one person holding fast to the other so as not to fall or be devided.

Leading a Marriage, Serving a wife.

OK. I know I know I haven’t blogged in awhile, busy is not an excuse it is the truth. Well now that I have broadband at home I can keep up better.

Well the past 8 weeks in DC we have covered Fellowship, The Tongue, Unity, Conflict and Marriage.

The Marriage topic is one that holds my attention. 1) I am married 2) Marriage for a man is the true definition and practice of leadership. So here are my thoughts….

No the first thing you are going to ask when you read Ephesians below is; WHERE IS THE SUBMIT? And yes Wives submit to your husbands is important, but did you know that God gave the husband more instructions in Ephesians, than he did the wife.

EPH 5:25-31
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…

How did Christ love the church? He served it and sacrificed for it ultimately giving his life.

26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless

If I lead as I should she will follow me to Christ, ensuring her salvation to God. Husbands are to lead their wives to Christ by example.

28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body.

Pretty self explanatory; Husbands are to care and provide for their wives just as they would care for themselves. No only in the physical sense, but also spiritually. Husbands are responsible to make sure their wife’s faith is growing, and her relationship with God becomes stronger.

31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh.” Paul is drawing from Genesis, which in the The King James translation says:

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

First leave, old ways behind, and make new your relationship with your wife, and unite (CLEAVE), to her. When I think of the word cleave I think of holding on to something as tight as I can, so tight that the hold can’t be broken.

To unite in one flesh has finality to it. One can not be divided, if you do divide one you have fractions or pieces. As C.S. Lewis described it, a lock and a key are one mechanism, a bow and a violin one instrument. Only, those pieces together can make one. Niva is the Hebrew word for one. Meaning: Only one. or Echad in Greek: for Only once, or a certain. To become only one certain flesh.

So now back to Submit…. Instead of thinking about it as the dirty word the world has made it, think of it this way. See, to lead is to serve, to be humble, thinking of others better than you. Phil 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than your selves.

And so if husbands lead their wives in that fashion, they are not submitting to a tyrannical leader, no they are submitting to being served by there husbands. Eph 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

God places so much value on Marriage that he gave Christ’s relationship with the church, as a model for the relationship of the husband and wife.

I just wanted to take a second to tell you how in love I am with you.

I know I tell you everyday that I love you, but I hope you know that it is so much more than words that I express.

I can not think of where my life would be today with out you there every step of the way. I truly believe we are united by God and that covenant can not be broken.

God has truly blessed me, he knew it was not good for me to be alone, and I pray daily for him to continue to strengthen our marriage.
Genesis 2:18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
You are a wonderful wife and mother, and I am excited to be able to raise our children with you.

It was good to get back to class today. The group is blessed by two good leaders, and the men in the group are picking up where we left off. God truly is amazing, and is doing amazing things with our group of men.

So I started reading through Colossians today, and God put me in a box. The verse that got me is: Col 1:12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[a] to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

I started to wonder what he Paul meant by qualified. So I decided to do a word study on it.

Qualified comes from the Greek, ikanoo, meaning:
1. to make sufficient, render fit
a. to equip one with adequate power to perform duties of one

Also used in 2 Co 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Digging deeper ikanoo comes from ikanoß meaning :
1. sufficient
a. many enough, enough
b. sufficient in ability, i.e. meet, fit

Because God qualified us through his Son, he gave us the Sprit so that we can be competent in the teaching of his word. He wants to equip us with is word, that is more the adequate, to be men of God.

A Baby sent to this world... Why?

So have you ever wondered what God was thinking when he sent his Son into this world? Why in his world would God send his Son into the world full of sin? From the first sin of Man to the sin of Israel that lead to it’s destruction at the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, even the sin in the world today. What was God’s plan with a Baby Boy that came into this world in the most unassuming way?

You see God is a jealous God, and his jealously makes him want to rise up in anger against that which separates us from him. That is sin. Our sinful nature is what provokes this jealous anger.

If you read through the Old Testament God’s jealously rises up against the sins of Israel to the point that he wants to beat the sin out of the world. Now think about that. He was so jealous of the sin in the world he destroyed it by flood, Sodom and Gomorra destroyed, Israel conquered by Babylon, all because they refused to listen to the prophets, and heed God’s warning.

What was a Jealous God to do to restore the relationship with the Man he created? Well he sent a little Baby, His Son to save us. II Cor 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. To be sin… That is a powerful statement. What was God thinking? He wanted to rise up and destroy sin, to beat it out of this world. So why would he make his Son be that sin for us?

See, the baby that came into this world in an unassuming way, was beaten and crucified so that the sin that was laid upon him would be destroyed. God used the life and death of this baby to restore the relationship with his people by rising up with out stretched arms on a cross.

This Christmas as we celebrate the Joy that is Christ’s birth, let us not for get the ultimate sacrifice he made for us to restore our relationship with his Father.

Angel on a tree... and a new MV

I have said it before, but it is worth repeating. Children are the heart of God, and can convict you sometimes quicker than any Bible verse. If you raise your Children to know their God, their faith will root them to a solid foundation of faith. I again found this out last night.

Well for the past week my daughter has seen on TV the Angel Tree, and keeps asking when we are going to Kroger so we can get her Angel. Well last night she got her chance.

As we walked into Kroger she saw the tree. "Mommy, Daddy, can we get an Angel?” At that point what were we going to say. She proudly carried her Angel "Corissa" (That being the name of the person we were buying Christmas dinner for.) around the store. Such a simple act of unselfishness on her part.... How was I to refuse with my cart full of groceries.

So a memory verse hit me this morning as I read Jeremiah:

Jer 17:10
I the Lord search the heart, and examine the mind, to reward a man, according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve.

I notice again that God puts the change of heart first and deeds second. If our heart changes our actions change with it.

I guess at this point it is ok to tell the world that we are expecting our second child. As we have since we started trying to get pregnant we are putting it all in God's hands. We pray for a healthy boy or girl, and know that with God's help we will deal with what ever comes our way.

Now the Ramble…..

I was walking through the house this morning barefoot (I go barefoot a lot) in the dark and I noticed that every footstep felt familiar. Like my feet knew exactly where to land and landed in the same place as I walked the same path's through my house. Now I know what you are thinking, I am going to talk about being in a rut and getting out of the rut in my life. Well if you are thinking that you would be wrong.

You see as I read through a couple chapters of Jeremiah this morning, I felt each word was familiar. Like my eyes had read them before, and knew exactly what was said and knew exactly what God was placing on my heart.

I walk the house in the dark in bare feet, but the knowledge of the house guided me so I did not stub my toe. I walk through this world of darkness and God's word guides me so I do not fall to the darkness.

Oh how privileged we are to walk in the Light of the Word confident in the salvation of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Said: I am the Way the Truth and the Light; no one comes to the Father except through me.

Has it been a week...

Time has been flying recently. I am traveling allot (I am typing this sitting in the Ft Lauderdale airport on my way home), and every time I turn around, another week is gone.

I am tired that is for sure, but having God guide me through and to lean on has been a huge blessing. This past 10 weeks in DC I have learned allot about who I am and learned some things that I didn't like, and if I don't like them I know God doesn't like them. I have also gotten answers to prayers that I have not expected. The biggest thing for me is to be patient. God seems to be telling me not to rush any decisions. There is alot that he and I need to work on together in my life. So I wait, and pray, and the weeks pass. But I am more in love with my God today than I ever have been in my life. My heart is wide open to learning more about my relationship with God, and I pray that the spirit continues to put the fire in my heart.

Dweller in the Valley

The word Amalek/Amalekites , means: dweller in the valley.

The Amalekites were the long time enemies of Israel. Exodus 17, Joshua has a war with them, 1 Sam 15 Saul was told to destroy them.

Amalek was the constant hurdle in the way of Israel, sin is our constant hurdle to a true relationship with God. Sins of the flesh can stand in the way of our relationship with God, Only God can deliver us from sin, through our faith. If we do not trust God to deliver us, our sin will prevail. Just like when Moses would lower his arms during the battle with the Amalekites, the Amalekites would prevail.

When we are down in the valley (a low point) of life, our sin will poke us in the side. The valley is where that constant sin will poke the hardest. We must rely on God to help us resist the sin, and bring us out of the valley renewed. To obey God and not sin is better than anything else we can do. So we must “Live by the Spirit” and we can turn away the “Sinful Nature” (Our Amalek) that is constant in our lives.

Memory Verse. Week 9

Jeremiah 29: 11 “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

The cry of my daughter hit my ears Monday evening just 5 minutes after laying her down for bed. “Daddy can you come up here?”. As I pulled myself out of my chair I figured she wanted more water or to get a new book. When I got to her room I was informed that she had broken her Bible cover. Upon inspection ad through tear filled eyes of my daughter I noticed the pink heart that hangs from the zipper of the case was broken off. Her heart was broken. She loves her bible and pink bible case, and I have to say I love that she loves it so much. I assured my daughter that I would do my best to fix the heart on her zipper. (Knowing on the inside I would be fixing her heart.) Ask my wife how determined I was to get the pink heart back on the bible cover zipper. I even went so far as to use pliers on a simple zipper…..

God works to fix our heart. It is broken and hardened by sin and selfishness. And he is determined to fix it. He peruses us at every turn, and uses every tool he can to mend and fix our broken hearts.

My daughter woke up to a mended heart on her Bible cover. It was not as it was before it was most certainly a new creation; it was not like it was when it was brand new. I smiled and was pleased to see her delight and ask, “How did you do that?”. Aren’t we all new creations in Christ Jesus? Our hearts are made new, but bare the healed scars of sin. But oh how God is pleased when we turn to him and he sees our new heart that defeats sin.

I did a word study this week based on a discussion at DC on Monday. The verse in question:

Be Still…

During the time of solitude Saturday morning I started thinking about all the trees, and how all the trees start from little acorns or seeds. One tree, can lead to the growth of thousands of other trees. As a tree grows and sprouts branches that reach out over the ground, it grows leaves, and develops seeds. The seeds at the end of the far reaching branches fall off onto the ground; some seeds are covered by the falling leaves while others are left on bare ground. More trees sprout from the coverd seeds and the process continues until a whole forest of trees is present.

To me as a Christian the most important tree is the one that held my savior at his death. This tree was planted by the sin of man. As it was raised into place, Christ’s arms were spread out wide. Blood from his hands and feet spilled onto the ground. Each drop of blood is a seed of faith. It is up to us to be covered by it, and let it sprout in our hearts. If we do, the seeds of our fruit will be spilled out for others to see. More people will accept the seed of faith from our savior.

Christ’s blood seeded and will continue to seed the souls of many.

My favorite thing shared by one of the men on the retreat:

God has filled you to the top with the Spirit, how much you let out is what matters.

Early Mornings

The past few mornings I have been getting up early and reading the bible. The thing I notice most is how different my day has gone the past 3 days. By starting out on the right note mentally, I am better able to maintain focus on Christ for the day.

Also I have stopped writing in my work book for my weekly reading. Instead I make notes in my Bible. It flows better and I seem to concentrate more on each section of verse that sticks out to me. Part of me wants to try and write a note about every verse, but I know that God is using this time to speak to me in a certain way. I may read Mathew again next year and have different verses stick out to me then that I can make notes about then.

Today for instance, I read through the 7 woes. And the part that stood out to me was, the dressing up for good appearances on the outside, all the while the filth of sin still resides on the inside. One of the biggest things I struggle with is my pride, and the do it on my own attitude. I will not conquer sin with out Christ; I need to let the spirit clothe me from the inside out.

Mathew 13:44
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

The hope of heaven is huge to me. What a wonderful thing to know that I will walk with my savior forever. I also hide his kingdom away in my heart, and the memory verses help me do that. Often on days I miss reading the bible I find myself repeating the Memory verses over and over again. Not only are they a treasure of hope in my heart, they are nuggets of truth that help me walk daily in Christ.

Mathew 16: 20
Then he warned the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

The disciples did not fully understand who Christ was. Jesus is warning them not to say anything about him until they understand. Much in the same way it is better for us not to try and explain scripture to someone unless we understand. The implications of explaining it wrong is big.

Mathew 16: 28
I tell you the truth, so of you who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.

Mathew 18: 3-4
I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 There, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Proverbs 11: 2
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

Sometimes I think, I over analyze my faith, and try to reason it out too much. (This is my adult pride taking over) A child trusts his/her parents to meet their needs and lead them. But as adults we have a hard time humbling ourselves to the leadership of God. Since I have started this class I have noticed that I have just accepted my faith more openly. The days I miss reading the bible I find myself repeating my memory versus over and over.

Proverbs 11: 7
When a wicked man dies, his hope perishes; all he expected from his power comes to nothing.

I have said to unbelievers; If you die and I am right you loose everything. If I die and you are right, I loose nothing. The saving power is from Christ not ourselves.

I am struck in Mathew about the continuing theme of choice, and asking to be saved and walk in the Faith. Jesus described this choice in many ways.

Mathew 6: 24
24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”

What master do you serve earthly treasure or Jesus? You can not serve both and be Faithful to God. All things of this earth belong to him.

Mathew 7: 7-8
7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Ask for salvation and it is given, have faith in what you are given and you will have eternal life.

Mathew 7: 13-14
13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Do you choose the wide door or the one true way to eternal life? The narrow door is open to everyone who chooses.

Mathew 12: 30
30 "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.”

Are you alive for Christ or do you sit by neutral to his teachings?

Mathew 16: 24-25
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.”

How deep are you willing to go for Christ? Are you willing to loose it all, even your life to defend your faith.

All the statements by Jesus ask for a choice to be made:

You cannot serve both God and Money.
Ask and Seek
Wide or Narrow
With or Against, Gather Scatter
Risk it all… ?

After reading through the many times that Jesus asks us to make a choice, buried in the middle is one of Jesus’ absolute statements.

Mathew 10: 32-33
32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men; I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.”

Jesus is our only intercessor to God the Father. No one else can promise eternal life. No one else lived the perfect life. No one else paid for our salvation the way Christ has.

Choose Christ you choose eternal life. Choose your life you die to eternal life. After all Jesus choose to die so that we could have eternal life.

Understanding a hard week...

I have realized why it was hard this week. God is challenging me to go deeper than just talking the talk. You can talk the talk and walk the walk. But your walk talks louder than your talk talks. (Did I get it right Greg?)

The Spirit can be in me but does it work in me to reflect outwardly.

I wrestled with this all week. It was not until I pulled out the stuff to bake yesterday that I let my self go. I relaxed, and found peace with the Spirit filling me, and wanting to use me. It didn’t matter that only 2 of the Cinnamon roles got eaten today at class. I baked and cooked dinner for almost 5 straight hours yesterday and just let my self pray and think about this past week. The simple acts of baking for the guys at DC and preparing a meal for my family, made me understand what it means to act on a Spirit filled life. Just as the cookbook leads me and guides me through the process, so does the teaching of Jesus. I have to be willing to get my hands dirty and work to make the Spirit rise. Jesus can put the yeast into my life, but it will remain dormant if I do not let the Spirit fill me with the living water.

For some reason, a tough one to get stuck in my head. The past ones seemed to stick pretty quick. Maybe God wanted me to meditate a little more on this one.

There is a series of books I have been reading by Bill Bright and Jack Cavanaugh (SP?). They are called the Great Awakenings Series. So far I have read Fury, Fire, and I just stared Storm. They take place in the 18th and 19th centuries and are fictional stories wrapped around historic events. They are a story of revival in the colonies and young country of the United States. They have made me realize that the battle to over come evil has been raging from the beginning...... More later...

Faith leads to….

Phil 2: 5-8

First we have to have faith that Jesus was fully human and fully God. His humanness allowed him to experience all of our wants and needs. He was even tempted as we are. And that he used his power to the perform miracles and defeat death to prove his divinity and give us the gift of salvation.

I have often said that Jesus is the perfect example of a leader. He humbled himself and became human, to come and serve the poor, hungry and the sinners. Even though being fully of God he allowed himself to wash the feet of the Disciples.

Jesus commands us to love as he did, and love one another. He leads us to believe in him and he will fill us with his Spirit. This allows us to be like Christ and humble our selves to serve others. We can lean on his power to carry out his work, sacrificing and serving for love. Faith leads us to works.

I stand in awe that Jesus is the perfect example of how to live. He became human, subject to time, and place. All the time he never fell to the power of temptation and sin. Faith in Christ leads me to strive for that perfection. Faith leads to a changed heart.

Phil 2:5 - Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Faith in Christ and letting him lead will lead me to that attitude.

Our faith in Christ leads to the grace and forgiveness of God. Eph 2: 8-9 Says “and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works so that no one can boast.” So I fall on my knees and thank God for his grace. Christ loved us and died for us. Christ loves us and leads us to the father.

Week 4 Ramble...

If we trust God the Father, he will not lead us into situations that we can not handle. Because we know the Father, once in any given situation we will not fear.

Fearing God to me is to stand in AWE of his power and know that I disappoint him when I sin. Much of the world is loosing that fear, and is turning out of control morally. People are spiritually bankrupt, and have no basis to know true right from wrong. It is up to us as Christian men to step out boldly, with the Fear of God, and the Not Fear that God gives us, and try and reach as many people we can.

Memory Verse: Week 4. II Cor 5: 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
(My daughter loves it when I pull out the Memory cards….She thinks it is great that she gets to tell me where I messed up the verse. )

Week 4 finds me tired. I was talking to one of the guys after class yesterday about the Devil attacking harder at us now because of our hunger to learn more about Jesus. My prayer is that for the next at least 6 weeks my procrastination side does not take root, and I continue in the discipline laid out before me in DC class. I know how Satin will attack in my life, I just have to be on guard and stand strong. EPH 6: 10-11

Stretching to understand, Word and Wisdom...

Lets start with the beginning...

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Prov 8: 23 (Speaking of wisdom) I was appointed from eternity from the beginning, before the world began.

We seek the Word for wisdom that spans the ages of eternity. To understand that God knew/knows before time began, that I would be sitting her typing on my blog is amazing. What is more amazing is that God's Son was ready before time began to save my soul. Jesus's birth right was laid out before him from the begining as God created the world. (Prov 8: 24-31) Proverbs goes on to say:

Prov 8: 35 For whoever finds me finds life, and receives favor from the Lord.

Even the memory verse shows that we are created in God's plan to live in Christ Jesus.

Eph 2: 10 For we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

God knew our hearts before time began, and put his Spirit in them, and then waited for us to make the Choice. He knew it would take some longer than others, but God is patient.

Hard to fathom, and get your brain around completely, but sometimes we just have to accept and not stretch too far.

As I read through John, I have to say: That if I was a Jew at that time listening to Jesus try to explain who he was, I would be confused also, and miss what Jesus is saying. Jesus stretched their minds to understand who he is. Just as he stretches ours in our daily walk, yet sometimes we forget that Faith should be as simple as a child.

Faith, Obedience, Love

First, I quoted one of my favorite verses wrong today in DC class…. I said it was in Philippians when we were reading Ephesians…

EPH 3: 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,

I think God will understand, but just needed to clear my mind.

Two main things learned this week….

1) We are called by God to be obedient to our faith in Jesus Christ, and God will reward our life. In seeking God through faithfully praying, reading his word, and loving others we obey him, and those are the times he rewards our lives. It is up to us to develop the discipline to prayer and read God’s word he does not force us. The greatest command God gave us is to Love…If we obey this love our actions will be of love, and that love will be Christ.

2) Seeking wisdom through the bible is essential for arming my self against attacks by Satan. If I let God guide my study of his word, he will guide me and keep me on the straight path.

I am looking forward to next week already. The guys in the group, all brought such good incite to today’s class that I can’t wait to hear what they have for next week.

My daughter (6 years old) convicted me this past week. As I was reading my bible for DC, she asked what I was doing. So I told her and she asked me to read to her from the bible. I thought she meant her kids bible, but no she wanted me to read from my bible. So I did and she sat there and listened. I realized that I have not been doing all that I can to infuse Jesus into her heart, and my heart broke a bit for me being so apathetic about it. Was I obeying God? Well then we were Lifeway Book Store, and I told my daughter she could buy a book. She picked up a children’s NIV study bible. I told her she would have trouble reading that. She said no Dad I want you to read it to me. My heart leapt for joy. Then I had to get over the sticker shock on the price of the bible, but it was not about the money at that point. You don’t realize how much your children pay attention to you, and they can convict you to move sometimes faster than the Holy Spirit. So now every chance I get I will read to my daughter from the bible. God you are so awesome.

Titus...

Titus is another short letter written by Paul to Titus.

Paul has left Titus in Crete to finish appointing the elders, and finish up dealing with some problems that Paul had to leave behind.

Much on the same lines as Ephesians, it is a letter describing how a Godly person should live and work with in the church. Obedient, even tempered, trust worth, honest, humble.... Paul uses this letter to make sure Titus knows what kind of Elders should be choosen for the churches in each city.

What strikes me though as I continue to read is the word hope... In the New Testament, based on a simple search at Bilblegateway.com the word hope is used around 80 times.

Hope brings about thought of the future, and what better thing to hope for than salvation through Christ.

I fear that many people have lost this Hope. Ether they have believed and fallen away or there is nothing tangible to them so that they believe. I think God works daily in our lives through the Holy Spirit to give us glimpses of heaven. God uses these glimpses to strengthen our hope for heaven. And ether you have the faith to recognize these glimpses as such, or your heart is hardened against them.

God’s promise of the hope of salvation is alive, and there for us to take. As is said in Titus some may profess to believe but have no change of heart. God sees these people and calls them detestable…

Titus 1: 15-16 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

With out the change of heart, and continuing on with our old ways, we gain no sight of the hope promised us. We can profess we have salvation, but only God knows if our hearts have changed.

Ephesians....

I dove full speed into my Discipleship homework last night, by reading Ephesians. I sat on my hotel room bed listening to Mathew West.

I have often thought that, if I was only allowed to read one or two books of the Bible for the rest of my life, Ephesians would be one that I choose.

Paul writing from his prison cell to the church of Ephesus (SP?), had to pack this letter with as much information as he could, and pack he did.

Every time I read Ephesians I am convicted in some way about my walk as a man of Christ. From unity in the church, how I act and speak, lead my family, or stand as a soldier for the word. Paul explains that I can do none of that as Christ did, without God's saving grace.

My favorite verses in the bible come from Ephesians… Eph 6:10-11 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

Christians are in a battle for the moral compass of this earth. The Devil will do everything he can to make us ignore our faith and become idle believers. He will use things of this world to distract us and try and throw us off our game. Eph6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. The Devil knows he has lost the battle for the souls of people who believe, but if he can make us idle or make us ignore the moral degradation of society, and thus become idle in our faith. He will go after the souls of the unbelievers that have never heard the word of God due to our idleness….

As a man of God I am convicted to not let that happen.... My simple prayer as I go through this class is for God to: “USE ME”… Feed me your word; help me live your Word outwardly in my life…..

… Side note… Typing this weeks verse from Memory: II Peter 8:13 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever, Amen.

You will have to take my word for it… I forgot one word… Should be “Lord and Savior”…. And, “To him be Glory”… So I will keep practicing…

I wonder what I will learn when I read Titus….

And man will this class push me to grow. Disciple, to have disciplin.... Some thing I have lacked in the past in my studying. Something I pray that God gives me the ability to aquire that disciplin.

God is with me and all the men in this class, we will grow together.

Have you wanted to hear those words before in your life...

Hey it is ok you are mad at....

Hey it is ok you are sad...

Hey it is ok to be happy...

Well I have heard those words over and over this summer in my head, and I know they come from God above.... Why do I know they came from God, because he gave me time to heal.

A little over 2 years ago I wrote these words: You see, God gave us all plenty of time, and it is how we choose to use the time that can make a difference in our lives and the lives of others.

It was the day after my Dad died, I knew I wanted to speak at his funeral, and this was the first sentence that was typed out on the computer. Time Time Time... What was the significance of time... As I sat there with tear filled eyes I thought of all the time my Dad spent just being himself, Wise, Unselfish, Caring, Protecting, and Loving. What I wrote about that day was how he valued the time he had on this earth, and used his time to be what he was Dad.

Well 2 years have passed and now I have a different perspective on time. I also wrote this that same day: Thank you Dad for taking the time. Thank you God for giving us a Dad who took the time.

Right now I can say: Thank you God for giving me the time.

Although I never stopped believing in God over the past 2 years, I defiantly was just working through the motions. Failed attempts to read my bible more, straining to pray, just trying to hear God again in my heart. Music that I loved became noise in the background... But I pushed on just asking every time I remembered to pray, God just move me, help me, feed me something....

I was struggling. I didn't have my Dad to measure up to any more, and I was slipping back into an old pattern of self doubt, I just didn't think I had what it takes to make a difference...

Then one night last spring, my heart broke, not for loosing Dad, but for me... God broke through (As he always does if you let him...) As I laid in bed in tears, my wife trying to comfort me, the words hit me...Softly and Gentle...

It is OK.... What? What do you mean ok.... It is OK.... What to sit here and blubber like an idiot... It is OK... What to loose sleep night after night trying to figure out if I will ever..... Ever what? IT IS OK.... To be mad that you can't turn to your Dad, it is OK to be sad that he won't be there when you walk into the house... It is OK to be happy... Happy what do you mean happy. It is OK to live your life. It is OK to stretch your limits, and be the man God wants you to be....

IT IS OK....

God is amazing... He gave me the time to heal, and he never left my side. All the time he knew as he always did and does that... It is OK....

Now I feel a fire burning that fills me, guides me and tells me every morning, IT IS OK, I am with you.....It is now I know he never left....

My Faith and Belief in Christ

Jesus was fully human, and sacrificed by dying for us... He Rose again to prove once and for all that not only was he human he was God incarnate, and to also show his power over death and sin.

Here is why I have faith in Christ.

I took the leap of faith to believe in Jesus, it is the evidence that I have after the fact the shows me that my leap was worth it. The Change in my life and how I lead my family and look at other people can only come from having Christ in my heart.   I find myself doing things for others that I would have never done before I believed. Not because I earn my way to heaven, but becuase the things I do are what Jesus did and would do.

Belief in Christ is a True change of heart. ONLY GOD KNOWS if your heart has truely changed.

I also believe that I do not look to other Christians as examples on how to live, I look to Christ as my example.

God being all powerful and all knowing, knows that his plan is working. How cool would it be to know that all the goals and dreams you have are just going to happen? For me not that cool at all. If it were not for my failures and successes I would not have the faith in Christ that I do.

The awsome power that God is, allows us to fail and get back up looking for him to help us.

Then when we do succeeded he celebrates with us, and is proud of us.

How awsome to have that love and support without question.

17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. EPH 3: 17-19

Why do we believe a man who was a simple carpenter, can save our souls from eternal damnation? Why do we throw our faith blindly at a man whose only full historic record is in a book that has caused wars, political arguments, and religious strife for centuries? So what is it about faith in God that captivates some and turns away others? Why do some embrace Faith in God and some shun it?

These questions run deep but they are not the questions that most Christians ask themselves on a daily basis. Most questions have to do with everyday issues; from money to family, from alcohol to sex, from sin to forgiveness. And most of the time we turn to other Christian friends to talk about these issues and seek advice. Have you ever wondered how other Christians talk about these issues, and whether the advice you get or conclusions drawn are biblically sound?

I can't say that I have all the answers about faith, but over the next 21 months I will be taking classes at church to complete a Discipleship program that will teach me how to interpret the bible and become a protector of the word. I will then be able to lead other men to become protectors of the word. I plan to post on what I learn, and how what I learn strengthens my faith in God and his salvation.

If you find this blog feel free to post replys. I only ask that you keep the posts clean, and G rated as my wife, daughter, sisters, mother, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, brother and sister in law's, mother and father in laws, and all of God children will be able to read this blog.
